Facts: A wife wanted to divorce her husband who was a philanderer; but divorce was not an option for religious reasons. The husband had substantial assets, and worried that if he divorced, he would lose more than he would like including some income tax benefits. Among other things, the wife The wife worried about losing health insurance coverage.

Action: The legal question revolved around allocation of marital assets so that both of them would have sufficient resources to lead separate lives.

Result: By filing for a judgment of separation and dividing their marital property, the couple was able to lead independent lives while maintaining the benefits each party desired.
